Aravanaikkum Karangal Trust
Aravanaikkum Karangal Trust is a non profit voluntary organisation started in the year 2016 for the protection of vulnerable slum children in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts. We also empower destitute children in care and protection. These children were provided with education, essential needs like counselling, food, shelter and recreation. We have registered under JJ Act registration No: 16126/DE/2016 3567, MMDA 3rd Main Road, Mathur, Chennai 600068. In which children are sheltered and accommodated. We run child skill development centres for deprived children of poor slums and also empower women through Self Help group, Women Association, Leadership training and right based awareness programme.We have successfully completed COVID 19, community Intervention Programme supported by Greater Chennai Corporation.
Our Facilities
We covered Zone II, IV and VI around 16,000 populations was covered during the intervention. We referred 550 and identified 126 positive cases. We created mass level awareness among the community about frequent hand wash, wearing mask and maintaining social distancing through interpersonal communication method information and education and communication activities were carried out through street play awareness programme which created a mass impact among the community to reduce the pandemic.
